Anxiety attacks are more and more common everyday with some people suffering mild anxiety attacks and others suffering more severe attacks. Many times if the individual is able to know the symptoms a mild anxiety, they will be able to prevent it from turning into a severe anxiety attack that can render the person helpless. Knowing the symptoms of a mild anxiety attack allows one to receive help before it becomes a major problem in a person’s life.

Anxiety attacks are often referred to as panic attacks although they are actually different in terms of when the symptoms come, how long they last and if they come suddenly. Both, however, are a type of mental illness that will get worse with time if they are not recognized for what they are and treated. Because many of the symptoms of mild anxiety attacks are so similar to symptoms of other health problems, people don’t often take them seriously or they “assume” they know what the problem is and choose to ignore them. The result is that they get worse and worse until they turn into severe anxiety attacks.

It is very important to know the symptoms of a mild anxiety attack, here are a few:

Sweating – Although sweating is normal for all of us, when you begin to sweat excessively on your hands, underarms or forehead, this may be a sign of an impending mild anxiety attack. Many people experience this symptom during or before a stressful event in their life.

Loss of Appetite – While loss of appetite can happen for many reasons; it’s usually one of the first symptoms patients will experience before or while they’re having a mild anxiety attack. The good news is that it will usually go away even before the actual attack is done.

Stomach pains and diarrhea – both can be symptoms of mild anxiety. These symptoms will usually occur before a stressful event, especially if the individual is thinking a lot about the event and dreading it.

Headache – Headaches that occur with mild anxiety attacks are very common but can usually be treated by pain relievers, especially if they’re consistent with the anxiety attacks. The old saying, “an ounce of prevention…..” definitely applies to anxiety headaches.

Rapid heartbeat – Sufferers of mild anxiety will often complain of a fast heartbeat or a hard pounding in their chest. This symptom will usually disappear as soon as the anxiety attack stops.

Dizziness – Feeling dizzy or weak are two very common symptoms of mild anxiety attacks. However, if it turns into fainting, this is much more serious than just a mild anxiety attack and the person should be seen by a physician.

Changes in Mood – Mood swings that come on suddenly are very characteristic of mild anxiety attacks. Feelings of agitation, fear, restlessness or nervousness are the most common moods that are experienced by sufferers of mild anxiety attacks. Acknowledging what’s happening can be the first step towards getting to the root of the problem and stopping the mild anxiety attack.
